Nevada Gov Brian Sandoval makes Marco Rubio look conservative

Meet Republican Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval. He supports illegal aliens, higher taxes, abortion, you name it.

The tax increases Sandoval signed have since funded a landmark overhaul in public education

Tax increases are always for "landmark" purposes. In this case the "landmark" is filling the pockets of the teacher's union, who don't change one bit as the money disappears.

Yet education is simply the most recent of a long list of Sandoval’s conservative heresies: The abortion rights governor has embraced Obamacare; lauded immigration reform and DREAMers; fiercely championed renewable energy; and taken lesser known actions on police body cameras, driver’s licenses for undocumented aliens and multiple moves to squelch Republican-led tort reform.

Abortion, Obamacare, illegals... what about boys in girl's bathrooms? I hope he is up on that.

Meanwhile this guy is so left that even the Republican presidential candidates are afraid to embrace him... publically,at least.

For candidates Rubio and Kasich, the Sandoval agenda has become a nontopic; they have kept the focus relentlessly on national security and the economy—even while Mike Slanker, the political mind behind Sandoval’s crushing 2014 reelection victory, now serves as Rubio’s chief strategist in Nevada

Sandoval knows what it’s like to cater to the right-wing base in an election. He did it once himself. In 2010, Sandoval ran to the right of sitting Republican Gov. Jim Gibbons, trouncing him in the Republican primary by more than 28 points.

Actually, maybe Sandoval does have something in common with Rubio! Both ran as conservatives and then immediately turnedcoat.

Here's Sandoval's explanation for his "landmark" tax hike

Governing is very different. And being a chief executive who’s accountable for every single decision is very different than being a candidate

In that case, candidates never have to be held accountable for promises, because they become "very different" after being elected.

“We had the worst K-through-12 system in the country,” he said, leaning in. He paused. “If you’re pleasing everyone, you’re lying to someone. And I am not going to apologize for believing in the kids of Nevada.”

Sandoval certainly won't apologize to the taxpayers either, you can be sure of that. How about believing in taxpayers, or the people who believed in Sandoval when he said he wouldn't raise taxes? No apologies for them either. Sandoval acts like a martyr, but governs like a liar and a dictator.
