Marco Rubio's brilliant plan to keep losing primaries

Marco Rubio, who has come in second, third, and fifth place in several primaries, has a detailed plan to keep losing other primaries:

Internally, the campaign calls this “The Ankeny Strategy.” In the run up to the Iowa caucuses, rival campaigns mocked the Rubio operation for being so obsessed with Ankeny. They joked that it felt like Rubio was running to be mayor of the Des Moines suburb. His headquarters was there, and his state chairman represents the city in the state Senate. But it paid off: Rubio’s surprisingly strong third place finish in Iowa was possible because he ran up his margin in Polk County.

The strategy paid off, because Rubio got third place!

Something similar happened Saturday in South Carolina, where Rubio won the two most populous counties (those that include Columbia and Charleston) by appealing to suburban Republicans.

He got second place there! He only lost to one other person!

Beeson believes Rubio is catching on with suburban voters because they find him “relatable.” They can identify with his modest background, his young children and the student loans he had to pay off.

When I look for a presidential candidate to support, I want one who has a modest background. A lot of debt. I also like candidates with young children. Older children, not so much. And if they have student loans they had to pay off? Well, that makes them an ideal choice to be President of the United States!

With such superficial connections to voters, I think Marco Rubio has excellent prospects to be in second or third places for many primaries to come.
