Liberals fighting drug addiction by making peeping holes in public toilets

How are liberals responding to the epidemic of heroin addiction? Their answer is to make peep holes in public toilets!

In Philadelphia last spring, a man riding a city bus at rush hour injected heroin into his hand, in full view of other passengers, including one who captured the scene on video.

A video! Did they make a Vine of his vein?

In Cincinnati, a woman died in January after she and her husband overdosed in their baby’s room at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. The husband was found unconscious with a gun in his pocket, a syringe in his arm and needles strewn around the sink.

What about the baby? Did they think to give it some heroin too?

In Linthicum, Md., Brian Knighton, a wrestler known as Axl Rotten in Extreme Championship Wrestling, died last month after overdosing in a McDonald’s bathroom.

Do you think cities should order bathrooms closed in restaurants that have entrees under $5?

In Cincinnati in 2014, an Indiana couple overdosed on heroin at a McDonald’s, collapsing in front of their children in the restaurant’s play area.

Do you think they drowned in the kids tank of play balls?

In Niagara Falls, N.Y., a man was accused in October of leaving a 5-year-old boy unattended in a Dairy Queen while he went to the bathroom; he was later found on the floor with a syringe in his arm.

What is it with public bathrooms? Is it more of a thrill to do this in public than at home? is there some erotic attraction to strange toilets?

Here in Cambridge a few years ago, after several people overdosed in the bathrooms of a historic church, church officials reluctantly closed the bathrooms to the public.

Police officers are routinely finding drug users — unconscious or dead — in cars, in the bathrooms of fast-food restaurants, on mass transit and in parks, hospitals and libraries.

The article makes it sound like people are tripping over the bodies of zombies. But if the drug use is so obvious, why aren't these people being arrested? What is left unsaid in this article is that drug use is becoming so public because police are not arresting these addicts. If they were, these addicts would be in jail, and presumably away from drugs--the best "drug treatment" plan possible.

But instead of recognizing this as a consequence of the creeping decriminalization of drugs, the liberal writer of this article reflects the liberal outlook to simply stop people from taking heroin in public bathrooms.

some groups have called forsupervised injection facilities, like those in Canada and Europe, where people can inject themselves under medical supervision.

Supervise people taking an often fatal drug? How do you supervise that?

In Boston, where pedestrians step over drug users who are nodding off on a stretch of Massachusetts Avenue known as Methadone Mile, an organization for the homeless has planned what it calls a safe space, where users could ride out their high under supervision

I suspect that law abiding citizens would not be very "safe" in Boston's "safe space"; why don't liberals call it a "dangerous" space or perhaps an "outer" space would be more appropriate, given the mind altering nature of these narcotics.

Middlesex County, which encompasses Cambridge, a city of 107,000 just west of Boston, has the highest number of overdose deaths

Do you think if "Middlesex" county did not have such a gay name this wouldn't be such an epidemic?

Because there were no free-standing public toilets in Harvard Square, a popular shopping, culture and dining destination that is visited by eight million tourists a year, the absence of the church bathrooms was felt right away.

“Almost immediately, we began receiving calls saying, basically, ‘What the hell just happened?’ ” said Denise Jillson, executive director of the Harvard Square Business Association. “They were saying, ‘Our doorways and alleyways have become public urinals, and people are defecating everywhere.’ ”

How about arresting these people and putting their weiners in the clink? No thought to do that!

the City of Cambridge spent $400,000 to buy and install Harvard Square’s first free-standing public toilet.
A $400,000 toilet? Is the toilet seat studded with gems and diamonds?

The kiosk, called the Portland Loo and made in Oregon, was designed specifically to discourage drug use. It has slanted slats at the bottom that allow the police — or anyone — to peer in and see if someone has passed out on the concrete floor.

So that is the liberal solution. A public toilet you can peer in. Do you think this designed for transgendered personnel who wanted some kicks of their own?

No where in the article does it discuss the more obvious solution: arresting these addicts and putting them in a "safe space" for a few years called "prison". Better to focus on toilets where it is harder to pass out in. That's the liberal mentality.

Supreme court only finds laws unduly burdensome when they relate to abortion

When evaluating laws, courts rarely find them too burdensome on Americans. Take laws (or regulations) mandating coal power plants be shut down. Or laws requiring every one to have health insurance. Or laws requiring businesses to provide health insurance, or comply with ridiculous EPA regulations regarding ponds in backyards or protecting snails on lawns. None of these are considered too burdensome on Americans. Unless they relate to abortion.
