The moment we knew Ted Cruz lost the GOP nomination

I'm a big Ted Cruz supporter, but I knew that Ted Cruz's campaign to be president was over the moment he chose his VP candidate.

It screams of desperation. No candidate selects a VP before winning the nomination. To select a VP when you are hundreds of delegates behind in the vote simply looks foolish. Will Ted Cruz also be announcing the makeup of his cabinet while he still doesn't even have 1000 delegates, much less 1237? And for that matter, who will John Kasich's VP be?

And even his choice left much to be desired.

Carly is the candidate with the most tortured, snarling expressions. She never smiles. I don't think she can.

And worst of all, she's a liberal who has never won anything. She ran for Senate in California as a liberal, and lost. Why does that make her a good pick for Vice President?

Here's Carly praising Islam right after 9/11:

Immediately after 9/11, Carly gave a speech, where, in light of the 3000 Americans who had just been slaughtered, her first concern was for... Muslims.

And as a business leader, I experienced a whole other set of emotions - first and foremost concern for the safety of our employees and their families. Concern for the security of our employees who are of Middle Eastern descent or who practice the Muslim religion here in the US and abroad. Concern for employees who are traveling, and how to get them home to their families as fast as possible. And then a concern for the safety of customers and partners located in the World Trade Center complex, in the Pentagon, and in the airline industry.

..."and then concern for World Trade Center victims". Well, I'm glad the victims fitted into her list of priorities, somewhere. But in case you are thinking this is simply a paragraph written out of order, there's more:

There was once a civilization that was the greatest in the world.

It was able to create a continental super-state that stretched from ocean to ocean, and from northern climes to tropics and deserts. Within its dominion lived hundreds of millions of people, of different creeds and ethnic origins.

And this civilization was driven more than anything, by invention. Its architects designed buildings that defied gravity. Its mathematicians created the algebra and algorithms that would enable the building of computers, and the creation of encryption. Its doctors examined the human body, and found new cures for disease. Its astronomers looked into the heavens, named the stars, and paved the way for space travel and exploration.

Its writers created thousands of stories. Stories of courage, romance and magic. Its poets wrote of love, when others before them were too steeped in fear to think of such things.

... the civilization I’m talking about was the Islamic world from the year 800 to 1600...

That's right, Carly is romanticizing the old Islamic Caliphate. Really. And not only is she waxing romantic about it, she is doing so right after 9/11. At the very least, after 3,000 Americans were killed by radical muslims, it's a tone deaf thing to do. And to whitewash a regime which slaughtered and enslaved people of other religions is not explainable.

Then in 2013, when Ted Cruz was counseling defunding Obamacare in the next budget, and Boehner wanted capitulation, Carly sided with... John Boehner.

Everybody could see this train wreck coming. I actually feel badly for John Boehner. I think this is Ted Cruz and President Obama’s shutdown. I think Ted Cruz’s tactics were wrong.

There’s no honor in charging a hill that you know you can’t take, only casualties, although Ted Cruz maybe got name recognition and money along the way. But President Obama wanted this shutdown. And Ted Cruz played right into his hands.

Well, Boehner's "tactics", which ended up being employed, was to fully fund Obamacare, which is what we still have today. Carly was clearly against putting up a fight to defund Obamacare. What kind of a fighter will she be for limited government as President? Not very much of one, based on this matter.

Here's more on Carly:

The good people at Conservativereview.com have compiled a rather disturbing dossier of her political views.

Immigration: Carly supports keeping birthright citizenships and allowing anchor babies, calling attempts to change the law a mere "distraction". She supports amnesty for so-called "Dreamers", and supported Marco Rubio's gang of 8 amnesty bill. (By the way, wasn't Marco's prepared speeches great in the debate? If you think so, please don't vote for him.) Carly refuses to say whether she supports a broad amnesty program. She opposes deporting illegals. These positions only put her a smidgeon to the right of Jeb Bush, who openly supports amnesty for illegals; they hardly make her a raging lion of conservatism.

Economy: Carly supported the expensive cap-and-trade program promoted by John McCain. She said very recently she still believed in imaginary global warming. She has spoken out against efforts to defund Obamacare. She supported the wall street bailouts and has said she wants more government intervention in the housing market.

Judiciary: Carly would have voted to confirm ulta-leftist Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court. She also said that county clerks who have objections to the gay marriage diktat should comply or resign, rather than fight the law through civil disobedience.

So Ted Cruz's last major act in the campaign was to pick a liberal for VP. So much for principals.

Liberals say blacks too dumb to realize they have voter IDs

Liberals used to claim that voter ID laws discriminated against minorities because they didn't have ID's. Black people, you see, never go to doctor's offices, never buy beer, never get a library car, never go to a hotel or rent a car or do any of the many things we all need photo ID's for.
But now liberals have a new talking point: blacks have voter ID's, but are too dumb to realize that they have them, therefore voter ID laws are still racist.

Cruz would have been much smarter to offer Kasich the Vice Presidency

Ted Cruz's pick of Carly Fiorina has been a huge mistake. Not only does she have a personality of a stop sign, but she has no constituency. She is not going to help Cruz in California, she doesn't even live in California anymore. Polls have shown that picking Carly has not even been a blip in the polls. And as I've said, picking a VP before being nominated is a sign of desperation.

Finally, a good suggestion for Iraq: cut it into pieces

After spending billions and thousands of American lives propping up Iraq, the country is as mired in violence as ever. ISIS, a thoroughly evil organization, was able to recruit Sunni volunteers in Iraq in part because of the brutality of the Shi'ite government, which slaughtered thousands of them. George W. Bush believed he could wave a magic wand and turn Iraq into a multiparty democracy, but the arab culture there is not permissive or tolerant enough for that to work; there is no civil society in Iraq, which is the precursor and basis of any real democracy.
