Rand Paul running for reelection to make world safe for hemp products

Rand Paul is running for reelection for Senate! But he's also running for President! But that's what it means to be a libertarian--freedom to choose, or not to, right?

Legally Paul cannot be on the ballot for Senate and the presidency at the same time, and Republicans failed to take control of the Kentucky legislature this year — which would have allowed them to change the law. But Paul’s advisers expressed confidence that he could always take his name off the Senate ballot should he win the GOP presidential nomination.

--Why should he be compelled to choose which office he is running for? Decisive leaders shouldn't be forced to choose!
Kentucky reporters on an afternoon conference call wanted to know why Paul announced his reelection campaign with a press release while he is in Washington for votes, rather than with a formal kick-off event back in the state.

“He didn’t want a big rally,” said Stafford. “He wanted to let what he’s done in office speak for itself.”

--E.G. no one would show up.
Paul’s announcement, in a press release, ran through a series of parochial efforts for the Bluegrass State: including “fixing Kentucky’s crumbling infrastructure…fighting for the re-introduction of industrial hemp in Kentucky…passing the Freedom to Fish Act [and] … averting the closing of the Hickman River Port.”
--Well well well, what big goals! "Crumbling infrastructure" is a code word for government spending, good. Fighting for hemp--that's Rand! But nowhere in these great lists of priorities do I see anything about protecting the constitution, or national security, or fighting illegal immigration. Nor do I see anything about Rand's other oft stated priorities--releasing drug dealers from jail.
Can't wait until he runs for president! He's Mitch McConnell's favorite!

Obama responds to Ferguson riots in irrelevant way

President Obama, grappling with how to respond to the racial unrest in Ferguson, Mo., and a wave of anger at law enforcement officials across the country, said Monday that he would tighten standards on the provision of military-style equipment to local police departments and provide funds for police officers to wear cameras. All told, the changes were modest, and Mr. Obama himself was circumspect in remarks about Ferguson.
